Though a little late to note, Gottfried Helnwein has recently unveiled a glimpse of a new collection of paintings for 2007 - 2008. The series, entitled 'The Disasters of War, is in part inspired by Francisco de Goya's famous collection of drawing bearing the same title. Like Goya, Helnwein's series is a surrealist depiction of death, torture, evisceration and the destruction of innocence with the onset of war in our modern age.
