maybe we should define:
whats separates prophecy from prediction? i can predict a lot of stuff, short term and long term. long term is trickyer, but its possible in many occations. short term prediction is easy. before i drop a ball, i predict it will move downwards :D
what makes prophecy?
is it the lack of evidence? the pure guesswork-nature of the prediction? coffee rests in the bottom of a cup?
if so, i think it invalidates itself as a concept of reality right there.

"If you let anybody know that I've been a bit teary-eyed today... I will murder you."
I find connections in my tarot readings and fortune telling. That sort of prophecy is interesting, because it means almost that things just happen for a reason most of the time. I also sometimes see faces when I go to sleep and having clairaudience or premonitions of bad things.

my opinion:
faces=imagination
the rest are coincidences that you see meaning in.
and dont take it personally, youve always known this to be a possibility. i just find it the most likely explanation.

I beleive it's possible to keep an open mind of both worlds. Like I can't confirm for a fact that it works, but I still do it...it doesn't hurt me to do readings even if I dont know 100 percent that I am accurate. Sometimes explanations aren't always what I'm looking for....
If someobody can make sure their prophesy is fulfilled then that is true prophesy.
I have often realized that if people keep talking about things happening it will spread through society like wildfire and gain fuel from all belief. As people believe something to be true their actions will in fact embrace that ending. That is the reason I try to take things with a grain of salt and use what can be used to further myself. All opinions have value to them, as does all prophecy. Quite a deep subject, I'm sure everyone noticed seeing 9:11 on the clock after that event more often. A simple example of something gaining fuel, but not directly related to prophecy. It is quite possible to draw a connection when there is none, fear is the biggest motivator for that.
The revelations of the bible are something I wonder about, is "god" fulfilling it or are we?
We are...
Shit on a platter, just for you
Something to sit in your mind and stew
Hard-boiled, half baked, incessant decliner
A dessert for a doormat adorned with eyeliner
Pathetic umbrella to your own demise
Deformed, retroactive, blindsided ( So Wise)
Heretic hogwasher dead on the rise
Bogged down with ignorance, doped up on pride

I'm ambivalent towards the concept of prophecy. It seems to me there are too many variables affecting any outcome therefore making sweeping and accurate prophecy impossible.
I agree, on the larger scale. I find it funny that no one seems to understand these prophesies until after they've "come true". I might believe in a prophet who could give me concrete information, you know, before disaster struck.
Divination relating to my own life situations can often be helpful in pointing out patterns, but of course, there are many, many variables that can instantly make any of it a moot point. I use it as more of a guide, written in pencil. For that, I use tarot, mostly.

Well posted.:) I also use the tarot keeping in mind it is a guide only, and not an excuse to abandon the responsibility of using my judgment and will.
