Is anyone here well acquainted with Crowley's tarot deck? I started using tarot about 4 or 5 years ago but shied away from this one because it appeared to be such a complicated eyesore. I finally bought it about 2 years ago and fell in love with it immediately. The sheer 'weight' of the deck itself hit me immediately.

My experience with it tends to give me dead on, eerily accurate readings, in addition to many of the cards revealing themselves as multi-layered imagery upon imagery. Many of the pip cards, upon study, seem to have animal shapes or faces (owl, cat, etc.), almost subliminally embedded into them.

I would like to know if anyone here has used this deck, studied it, or had any insights or significant experiences with it. Crowley's 'The Book of Thoth' is beyond necessary for serious study, but it can be overwhelming. For practical study and surprisingly comprehensive use, 'Keywords For The Crowley Tarot' has proven itself, for me, to be more than valuable.

^Yes, I have worked extensively with this deck; I feel strongly that it announced the most signifigant event of my life and the symbology it provided allowed me to place the event in proper context. The deck also brings more obscure symbology to the fore: ie, the reference to the armed Venus in The Hierophant card. I also fell in love with this deck.:)

I prefer the Mythic Tarot, The parables of Greek Mythology is very much in tune with the psyche. My fiancee bought me this deck when we first met.

I've studied and worked with this deck for five years too. :c) I learned with DuQuette's "Understanding the Thoth Tarot" --which actually makes "The Book of Thoth" make sense. (Got "Keywords" a couple years ago. It's a great book for increasing card vocab.)

I love the Thoth deck. It has a hell of a lot of sentience for card-stock. It gives the clearest answers, but it also tells the dirtiest jokes. I learned to read with it 'cause it told me, in no uncertain terms, to PISS OFF when I first pulled cards. I couldn't resist a deck with personality.

Since then I've learned a lot about metaphysics from the system, and about ten million of the different things you can say in 3 tarot cards. They're all great landscapes for astral projection, a damn good focus for meditation too. Plus, you can't beat a deck that's got a Lust card. ;c)

I love Tarot decks.  I'll have to check this one out.  I love the one I currently am using, though I'm not sure what it's called. I'll have to research it and get back to ya'll.

You really have no need of a tarot deck, the answers are all around you if you know how to look.

Just wonder, and there it is...

The world really is a majickal place.

At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be “What is hell?”

Come early and listen to our choir practice.

Last time I had my cards read I pulled all the Aces but one, Pentagram if you must know. A heirophant and hermit as well if I remember, a 8 of swords. I think she played it out on the Key. But I'm pretty sure it was a Thoth deck. I used to have the Osha Zen Tarot with the Master Card (22 major). I burned them.

Aside from myself, I do readings for friends and relatives. I started working with the Tarot at the age of sixteen.

    I see.

How did you get into it in the first place?

Is there others in your family who read cards?

I randomly found a book that discussed the cards using the Rider-Waite deck; the images caught my interest. I'm the only one in my family that reads the cards and uses any sort of divination.

People who learn from a book are not born gifted and are unable to perfom any readings.

I didn't learn from a book. The book alerted me to the existence of the Tarot. I've learned from my own experience with the cards.
