This is without a doubt some of the best news I have heard in a long time... and it is about fucking time that it happened. I have long thought that Manson needed to split with the lable and do his own thing. Now, I can't wait to see what comes of this move and I'm looking foward to hearing the next album.

I wonder what will happen next. What new label will scoop him up? Or will he go 'indie' like Rent Friendster?
i know some independant labels simply just deal with promotion and allow complete, total freedom, with your work in the studio and all that, the label that Mushroomhead is part of is like that(megaforce i think its called), or so they have described it that way in interviews. I can see manson being completly independant like Friendster though, i mean they've got himself and vrenna for the production so its possible.

Best news ever.
And tomorrow I'll see his show.
This is the best week ever XD
No seriously, finally we'll see the real Marilyn Manson art and this is fucking awesome. Finally no more censored videos, songs, photos, etc. He is in control goddamnit!

It also has Creative Commons. Ghosts I-IV and The Slip were released under this "label" weren't they?
OH MY GOD!
WOW!
Manson uncensored?! This is going to be interesting. If he said he was only using half of his creativity, I can't wait to see what the other 50% holds. I just hope he's going to be as big as he was because now he has no one to promote his music and videos. Well, I guess he's going to promote himself then. I'm relieved that he's parting ways with them because they wouldn't let him be 100% him...too much censoring and whatnot. He said a new album would be here, sooner than they expected!
I think you guys should be more paranoid about this. It's not like Interscope isn't going to try and profit from this, and we don't know what the conditions of the split were. How would you like to see the release of a batch of unapproved Manson compilations, or the rerelease of Antichrist Superstar with crappy packaging and new 'retrospective' liner notes etc? Perhaps Manson's foretelling "Guess I missed the sign that said it was a fire sale" just might come true.
Or how about this fun situation? Another band that I love Opeth, split with thier longtime label a few years ago to join Roadrunner and when they did they found out that they couldn't use a vast number of thier songs released under the previous label on thier upcoming live DVD. If you think Interscope isn't going to try to exploit Manson's work for a profit now that they don't have to worry about appeasing him, you're kidding yourself. If anybody is going to be raped it's the body of work we've come to love and respect.
It honestly makes me shudder. I really hope Manson has all of his rights in order.
Subsequently though, this may prompt the release of countless materials that the label has been suppressing for years (such as the short film "Groupie"). But Then this also could be a coffin nail to other things like the DVD reissues of DttW and GiitTV, or any upcoming Rape of the World DVD. Or worse a RotW DVD without any of Manson's input or approval.

I hope you're wrong man, goddamn

well, they said he was dropped due to lack of sales, so i think thats all there is to the split (its the media they love bad shit happening to people so im sure if there were some bad consequences, especially for manson, the media would get a huge hard on and they would have mentioned it) its not like manson just jumped ship. also i would hope he has all his legal shit in order, he strikes me as the kind of person that would take care of this stuff though considering his experiance with the whole Pogo vs Manson ordeal and all the shit thats happened to him in the past.

Releasing something under Creative Commons is just a way to license copyrighted material with particular rights/restrictions. Generally artists apply this type of licensing to their work if they want to give it away for free, but want to be clear on the rights they are in fact “giving away”.

The only thing that I'm hoping for is that they don't pull a Treznor. I kind of have a feeling Roadrunner might pick Manson up, though. Best news in a long time? Please. I've been given better news than this, like "I'm not pregnant."
Actually, thinking about it more, it might not be a positive thing. He was "dropped." Manson didn't tear away from his contract nor finished the contract then left on good terms. Interscope dropped his ass.

Whether or not they dropped him or he left, this is still good news... In my humble opinion.
Not sure what to think of this. Get ready to hear things like "irrelevant" "has-been" "no-career" thrown around on every blog, newsite, radio station, ten times more than normal regarding this news. ugh.
As far as creativity goes, I am excited for what is yet to come. A new album sooner than expected could be a very good thing. Manson completely unrestricted sounds kinda frightening, in a very good way.
I do hope this doesn't mean less production value (like Eat Me Drink Me). Unlike Eat Me, High End struck a perfect balance between good crisp sound and "raw" and I hope that stays despite the lack of a major labels backing.
Insert hillarious neg-reps from The Heirophant here.

It could go either way. One label might be cautious to pick Manson up due to the album sales yet see all the revenue brought in by concerts. Another label might want Manson to play what they used to but get something totoally different, in which I call the Neil Diamond Syndrome, or I believe it was Neil Diamond. Doing research as we speak.
Oh yeah, Myspace whoring is for losers.
