There have been numerous complaints about the post editor, I have not neglected these. Unfortunately it seems a lot of these issues were caused by design flaws in the richtext editor I had chosen (fckeditor). For the past few months I have been working on a new text editor based on tinymce. (which I personally recommend over fckeditor to any of you who are in need of similar software.) The new editor is a lot more streamlined and supports copy-pasting and spellcheck. It also works a lot better with quotes.

Just earlier I added youtube video embedding (demonstrated below). The editor is now 'finished'. That is to say, I've done all I can think of and all that remains is testing and finetuning. It has been available for a while, but you are hereby officially invited to test the new editor.

Soon, everyone's account will be updated to use the V2 editor, and eventually usage of the old post editor will be disabled completely. So it is in everyone's best interest if you try the new one out now that you can still fall back to the old one.

To use the new editor:

Go to control panel » My profile » edit profile & settings » Settings and select Editor V2 Beta.

Finally, you are free to give feedback or ask questions about the new editor in this thread.

It's not bad :) I miss the old icons, but it works beautifully. The spellcheck still doesn't work for me, but since it didn't in the first editor, no biggie.

I love it. The only weird thing is having to drag and drop the smileys now. But that works well too.

I don't think you drag and drop them. Just double click on the one that you want.
