You guys are pretty used to my style of posts by now, so hopefully I can organize my opinion clearly. First, let me say, judging by the 1000s of Youtube videos that had been posted during the European leg, and the early parts of Mayhem here in the US, the audio quality of those peoples recordings were TERRIBLE, not Manson or the Band. Secondly, It is quite obvious to me now that even though I don't know how to hold a camera still in the pit, I captured the better audio out of anything except Haz's videos. You can tell by the recordings that I made that the band was fucking incredible, hands down, just like everyone whose been is saying, the Slayer fans don't actually leave, the Slayer fans bounced up and down next to me, saying how amazing his delivery was. Slayer fans did leave briefly, to get beer, and some of the ones who snuck into the pit were unable to re-enter. Don't be mistaken, there were 40,000 people there, and every single one was just as captivated by the show, the lighting, and the theatrics, as I was. I didn't quite understand the negative bias on some other forums or news venues, until last night. Lastly, What I saw last night, was comparable to the best of the best, and I have seen him on every single tour since Ozfest in 96, so I hope my opinion means something. I bring you proof, below, in the form of video...some of it is quite embarassing because how can I hold myself still during Disposable Teens? LOL. I'll try to do better at the next shows I go too! This was my first time using a video camera. For the audiophile out there, I have recorded a seperate lossless audio of the entire 1 hour 5 minute performance, but the file size is 2 GB (i recorded it with a seperate audio device), and needs to be converted into something lossy. The only thing I regret about this show was being unable to meet anyone from Babalon If you see me at the next three shows, don't be scared to say hi, I'm the guy standing in front of Twiggy, shouting at him...cause you know he's got that cute smile when he wants too.
My conclusion is, if you havn't seen Manson on this tour, now is a great time to buy the ticket, no matter where you are standing. This show is just too good to miss. Oh, and I second the notion of the new merchandise being great, I've seen it first hand, and I would buy one of everything if I was into that sort of thing.
Please comment on the videos about how amazing they are, I'm trying to overload people out there with proof that the media is full of shit.
Still no changes in the setlist, i guess?
"that's so 1999." Hehe:)
I went to this hsow and arrived at about two. My friend Brittany and I wanted to be in the front of the pit so we waited there, and got soaked from the rain. but needless to say, we were right on the gate for the whole thing.
Bullet did a great job.
Killswitch did a great job.
Slayer was ok..not really my style and i felt bored and unconnnected.
Then..Manson. The man of the night. Brittany and I were so escatic when they pulled the curtain down, and we saw him, it was a beautiful moment, i was in tears. The setlist was the same...but damn..the energy they all had. Manson looked amazing. As did Twiggy. Whom I saw all the cause i was standing in front of him.
Mansons voice was in top shape..and I sang along to every song. Jumped, screamed, cried and even got one of the cue cards from when he performs armagoddamnmotherfuckinggedon.
Yes he used oxygen..but honestly..i dont see how it interfered much with the stage show. It was an incredible evening and i would go back any day
